What is consignment selling?
Consignment selling means we market and sell your item on your behalf, while it remains your property until sold. You set an agreed minimum sale price, we handle the advertising, enquiries, negotiations and the sale process, and you receive the agreed amount once the item sells and cleared funds are received. It's the convenience of selling to a dealer with the better returns of selling privately.
How do I know my item won't be sold too cheaply?
Before we list anything, you set an agreed minimum sale price. That figure is locked in — your item will not be sold below it. Anything we negotiate above your minimum is a bonus, and it's in our interest to push the price up because our commission comes from the sale.
What does it cost to sell with Territory Sellers?
We retain an agreed commission from the sale, plus any applicable fees — all agreed with you up front before your item is listed. If your item doesn't need any extras, that's the lot. Optional services like collection, delivery, cleaning and storage may be available and are charged separately where applicable, and we'll always quote before booking anything.
When do I get paid?
Sale proceeds are released once cleared funds have been received from the buyer. You receive your agreed amount, and Territory Sellers retains the agreed commission and any applicable fees. We don't hold your money any longer than the banks make us.
Who owns my item while it's listed?
You do. All items remain the property of the owner until sold. Consigning an item with us does not transfer ownership — it simply authorises us to market and sell it on your behalf under the terms we've agreed.
What kinds of items do you sell?
Most things with genuine resale value in the Territory: furniture, tools and machinery, camping and fishing gear, boats and trailers, electronics, appliances, sporting goods, collectables and quality secondhand items. Downsizing, moving or clearing an estate? We can often take on multiple items at once. If you're not sure, just ask us.
Can you collect the item from me?
Collection and delivery services may be available depending on the item and location, and are charged separately where applicable. Tell us where you are and what you're selling and we'll let you know what's possible.
Do I need to clean the item first?
A clean, well-presented item photographs better and sells for more. You're welcome to prepare it yourself, or we can arrange cleaning and presentation as an optional extra, charged separately where applicable.
Can you store my item while it sells?
Storage may be available while your item is being marketed and sold, charged separately where applicable. It's a popular option for people clearing space at home or preparing a property for sale or a move.
What happens if my item doesn't sell?
Your item remains your property, so it comes back to you. If interest has been slow, we'll usually talk to you first about adjusting the price or the listing before it gets to that point — sometimes a small change makes all the difference.
What areas do you service?
We're based at 8/35 Marjorie Street, Pinelands NT and service Darwin, Palmerston and the surrounding rural area. For items outside those areas, get in touch — depending on the item, we may still be able to help.
